Building Awareness for Animal Blood Donation at UCI University Hills Fall Festival

This past October, Life Animal Blood Center Charity was honored to participate in the 2025 Fall Festival at the University of California (UCI) University Hills community—our first community event here in Orange County!

It was a wonderful day filled with families, children, and neighbors coming together to celebrate their community while learning something new: our pets can help save the lives of other pets through blood donation, too.

At our educational booth, children and adults learned about animal blood types, blood donation, and the importance of having a reliable blood supply for animals in need. Guests participated in fun educational games as they learned along the way!

Many people were surprised to discover that healthy dogs and cats can donate blood, just like healthy people. A single blood donation can help provide lifesaving support to another beloved pet facing an emergency, surgery, severe anemia, trauma, or critical illness.

Why We Need Your Help

There is currently no local public animal blood bank serving southern California. Animal hospitals often depend on limited or distant blood resources when a critically ill patient needs a transfusion.

This is why our mission is so important.

Life Animal Blood Center Charity is working to raise funds to establish a local public animal blood bank in Orange County, helping create a more accessible and reliable source of lifesaving blood for local pets.

Public education is an important part of this mission. By helping families understand animal blood donation, we hope to inspire more eligible pet owners to consider becoming blood-donor families—and ultimately help build a stronger community blood supply for animals throughout Southern California.

The Fall Festival was a wonderful success, and we are so grateful to everyone who stopped by, played our educational games, asked questions, and learned more about animal blood donation.
